Seeds for Angel's Trumpet Flowers ( Datura and
Brugmansia )

Growing Brugmansia from Seed ( Brugmansia Growers

Tips on
taking Brugmansia Cuttings ( Brugmansia Growers
International )
Datura and Brugmansia can be grown in tubs and pots in cooler climates, and directly in the garden in warmer climates.
The Datura/Brugmansia seed we do not
grow ourselves is provided from commercial growers from around
the world, and often the photo and information accompanying the
seed listing is from the grower. We have well meaning visitors
to our site from time to time who wish to correct us on a
listing or photo, but we must list the information as the
grower provides. We apologize if this causes any confusion, and
certainly appreciate any input from our customers.
We find that in growing these ourselves, sometimes an individual plant will produce somewhat different colors than shown ( while sister plants grown from same pack will be true ), this is the nature of datura and brugmansia seeds, especially from overseas growers. If you are growing seeds to sale plants, you should always allow plant to bloom before selling. If this varience is a concern, then you should not buy these seeds.
Datura
D9551 Golden Queen
Frilled Double
Large, beautifully frilled flowers of canary yellow. A showpiece in any garden, it boasts some of the largest and showiest blooms spring through fall. The blooms will face upwards and will produce a double (sometimes triple) trumpet. Each plant can have several blooms open at any given time. Although some Datura are without fragrance, this particular plant produces flowers with a delicate aroma that permeates the air at night. Their round, spiny seed pods burst open when ripe.
A half hardy annual growing to about 3-5 ft in height. This is a lovely plant bearing large, double golden-yellow trumpet flowers. Lots and lots of petal area. A magnificent new selection from seeds.
Very attractive to butterflies, hummingbirds and sphinx moths.
3590 Double White ( Datura metel )
The plant is quite compact in containers, reaching only about 1 to 2 feet high. In the garden, it forms a dense, well-branched shrub to 3 feet tall and slightly wider. Normally treated as an annual, the plant can be over-wintered in a greenhouse environment.
The ruffled Datura white double flowered like a Rose and with just a hint of cream at the center. This eye-popping datura looks like something from a hot-house instead of an easy-to-grow, sun-loving tropical you can start from seed. Beginning in early Summer and continuing until the Fall weather sets in, the plant is covered with magnificent blooms, so fragrant that a single plant perfumes the garden ( fragrance is less we have noticed when grown in containers ).
The flowers are immense with 6 to 8 inch flowers exquisitely whorled and twisted to show off their beauty. Green leaves complement the flowers. The stems and buds have a black currant stain. The flowers are followed by highly ornamental fruits, remaining decorative for long periods. All parts of plant are poisonous if ingested. Hardiness zones 7-11
IP120 Aquamarine Datura spp.
Nice compact plant with fragrant flowers, can be grown indoors. Rarely exceeds 36 inches tall, but can under some conditions.
A really beautiful datura well suited for container growing and outside gardens, but fast becoming a favorite as a houseplant. For full effect of plant, grow in a container that will hold at least 3 gallons of potting mix. This variety of Datura metel has spectacular double-flowers that are white with lavender webbing. The flowers are very beautiful and last a few days compared to the singles that last a day.
LET771 Ballerina Double White
A stunning datura with a sweet heady fragrance that is perfect for a moon garden. The blooms are huge and pure white , in elegant whorls. Wonderfully fragrant, a single plant perfumes the garden!
The upward facing, trumpet-like blooms of this datura can be 8 inches in length. They provide a double, bloom within a bloom, appearance with the swirling petals making this a very complicated trumpet like flower. In the garden Ballerina will grow to a height of 3 feet, less if grown in containers. Makes a wonderful container plant.
2127 Belle Blanche
This is one of our favorite patio plants, it is easy to care for, has fragrant blooms with a lemon-cream fragrance and maintains a good size in smaller pots, only getting 36" tall in large pots. Large, fragrant, creamy flowers look magnificent in sheltered bedding displays or in containers on the patio. A great moon garden plant that opens it's flowers at twilight.
2173 Double Purple
Datura
One of our favorites, it grows 3 to 5 feet tall and requires
almost no care or maintanance. The flowers are a double purple
with a white center and are trumpet shaped with edges that roll
back and form tendrils. The flowers are very fragrant and are
strongest in evening. Blooms repeatedly in the summer time.
W109 Double Purity Datura
( Datura metal )
Large trumpet-shaped double pure white blooms. Does best as a
container plant. Full sun, partial shade; plant height: can
reach 5 feet tall in rich soil and full sun. Loads of
flowers.
Brugmansia
W102 Red Tree Brugmansia ( Brugmansia sanguinea )
We finally have fresh seeds for these again! From the Andes comes this very small shrubby tree with large
pendulous flowers to 10" length. Flowers are tubular, and bright red at the mouth fading to yellow at the base. Long ovate leaves to 10". Extremely popular. For tropical greenhouses or zones 8b and higher outside.
TCB041 Golden Angels Trumpet ( Brugmansia sanguinea 'Aurea' )
Brugmansia aurea is a popular ornamental and is widely cultivated. It is sold and grown as a garden plant, described as a large evergreen subtropical shrub capable of growing to 20 feet in height, but will grow smaller in tubs and large containers. The large, pendent, trumpet-shaped yellow or white blooms appear in summer and autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. The pleasant fragrance is strongest in the evening.
A large, fast growing brugsmansia with soft branches, large and soft furry leaves, and scentless, long, trumpet-shaped, golden yellow flowers. Originally native to high altitudes in the Andes between 6600 and 9800 ft. from Colombia to Bolivia. It adds a touch of tropical allure with its radiant flowers and alluring aroma. Zones 8b-11 or can be grown in tubs and brought inside during winter.
SF403 Fragrant Peach Angel's Trumpet ( Brugmansia versicolor )
New! We have being trying to source seeds for this one for years! This species from Ecuador forms a large shrub or small tree to 15 feet tall and as wide with beautiful large pale apricot heavenly scented flowers through summer and fall. This is our favorite brugmansia plant as the entire plant is smothered with flowers in late summer through fall, emitting a wonderful fragrance for hundreds of feet around. It benefits from a hard cut back in the spring. Will take sun or shade, moderate water. Hardy to about 20-25 degrees F.
SF329 Pumpkin Yellow Brugmansia ( Brugmansia sp. )
This is a delightul brugmansia with a unique color. Soft pumpkin yellow blooms simply cover this plant as it matures. It is easy to grow in containers or in the garden. If you are growing it in a cold zone outside, simply cut a few stalk ( about 30 inches ) pieces before the last freeze, put them in a five gallon bucket of water and store in
an area that does not freeze, they will root over the winter, providing you with fresh planting material in spring.
FA77 Brugmansia Arborea
Arborea is unusual in that it is one of the few brugmansia
cultivars which are self fertile. Flower shape differs from
other brugs and color is always either white or cream. The
leaves are slightly pubescent and have a distinctive color and
shape. Arborea prefers cooler temperatures and grows, and blooms
in late fall, winter and early spring.
Brugmansia arborea is a very robust and somewhat drought
tolerant variety. Green, velvety, trumpet-shaped leaves and
beautiful creamy white 4 ½ -6 ½” long fragrant
flowers are produced continually. Native of Ecuador and
Northern Chile. Sow seed at 61° F in standard potting mix,
water freely during growing season and moderately during winter
