Agrostemma Githago, often referred to as Corncockle, can be established easily from flower seed, and is known to be a liberal self-sower. Agrostemma seeds will grow in most soils but does particularly well on free-draining, sandy loams.

The flowers form singly on a long stem and sway in the slightest breeze. The flowers are followed by a straw colored flask-like seed head containing large, black, rough textured seed.

These medium to tall flowering annuals have long, softly hairy leaves and large 1-1/2 inch white flowers. The flowers form singly on a long stem and sway in the slightest breeze. The flowers are followed by a straw colored flask-like seed head containing large, black, rough textured seed.
Agrostemma Bianca White Agrostemma Githago can be grown in the cottage garden with cornflowers and poppies or sprinkled among other favorite flowers. Agrostemma attracts bees and hummingbirds to the garden, and it is a great cut flower. The plant is an annual, but it will self-seed it and provide even more flowers the following year. The plant is easy to grow, and it is excellent for beginner gardeners. Grows 36" tall.
